A cosy country pub with rooms
The Queen’s Head at Askham is a village pub with a difference. Lovingly renovated, and retaining much of its 17th Century character, its interiors offer everything you want from a cosy country pub – a roaring fire, a copper-topped bar, original stone walls and exposed-beam ceilings – and it’s as loved by locals and their dogs as it is by visitors to the area.
We offer a menu of delicious wood fired pizzas, sides and puddings. No need to book, just turn up! We currently serve food daily from 12.30 to 3 and 4 to 8.30pm (last orders 8.15), both eat in and take-away. The bar is open for drinks from 12 noon to 10pm.
Bed and breakfast is also available 7 days a week.

We’re known for being sister pub to Michelin-starred Askham Hall just along the road and the George and Dragon pub nearby at Clifton and we carry our field-to-work food philosophy through all our places to stay and eat. We rear, grow and forage as much of our own produce as we can and where we can’t, we do our best to source exceptional local and artisan suppliers.
We have six bedrooms where you can lay your head after a day’s exploring (and eating) – they’re each individual, but all are full of character, with original art, antique furniture and the important things done well – great beds, soft linens, generous toiletries, and an excellent breakfast.
We welcome families, dogs and muddy boots and look forward to taking care of you.

Dogs
We love dogs and have several of our own. Well-behaved pooches are welcome at The Queen’s Head and all our bedrooms are dog friendly. We have a Doggy Welcome Pack for our overnight canine guests, which includes a treat, a map of local walks and poo bags.
